Liz Shanahan
Managing Director
Liz established Santé Communications, one of the UK's fastest growing and most successful healthcare specialists, after a hugely successful career in public relations, at senior levels both in-house and at consultancies. A graduate of Science from University College, Cork, Ireland, she was previously a senior director of the European Healthcare Unit of Ketchum PR, based in London. Prior to that, Liz worked in a number of other consultancies, specialising in healthcare, including Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.

Having begun her career as a medical representative before moving into the public affairs department at Merck Sharp and Dohme, Liz has considerable experience in a wide range of communication areas including marketing and corporate communications, public affairs and issues management.

Liz has been responsible for some of the most successful product introductions during her time in-house and with consultancies both nationally and internationally for a variety of products from the blockbuster asthma treatment, Advair®/Seretide® for GlaxoSmithKline to Aventis' Rilutek for Motor Neurone Disease. She has developed a number of product-driven political initiatives and has a specific interest in the strategic impact of health policy changes on the pharmaceutical industry.

In addition, Liz has had a number of articles published in the pharmaceutical industry and PR press. At Santé, Liz takes an active part in the direction of every account, ensuring the company performs to the highest standards. Liz is also a member of the Institute of Directors and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
