One-Year results on the use of miglustat (Zavesca®) in Niemann-Pick type C disease
 

ALLSCHWIL, SWITZERLAND – 30 August 2007 – Actelion Ltd (SWX: ATLN) announced today the online publication in “The Lancet Neurology “ of the one-year results from a randomized controlled study evaluating safety and efficacy of miglustat (Zavesca®) in patients suffering from Niemann-Pick type C (NP-C) [1]. NP-C is an autosomal recessive genetic disease affecting children, juveniles and adults, characterized by progressive, severe and heterogeneous neurological manifestations, and reduced life expectancy [2]. Zavesca® is not currently licensed for the treatment of NP-C.

Baxter's Advate Receives Room Temperature Storage Approval

Advate’s safety profile confirmed
 
August 10th 2006 – The MHRA has announced the removal of Advate’s (Octocog Alfa Recombinant Coagulation Factor VIII) black triangle symbol, confirming its risk/benefit balance.  The move marks the end of a period of detailed surveillance following the UK launch of Advate, the first and only haemophilia therapy without blood-based additives used for the prevention and control of bleeding episodes in people with haemophilia A.
